How does electric current produce a magnetic field ?

When an electric current flows through a conductor, it creates a magnetic field around it. This magnetic field forms circular lines around the wire, as shown in the animation. The direction of the magnetic field depends on the direction of the current and can be determined using the right-hand thumb rule.

This phenomenon is known as the magnetic effect of electric current and is the basic principle behind electromagnets, electric motors, and many modern technologies.
